Enugu State-born John Okafor, better known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, was an actor and comedian in Nigeria’s Nollywood.

Colleagues and admirers were in grief as word of his passing broke on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

The seasoned actor was said to be unwell in October 2023 and in need of financial support.

The family of Okafor revealed in November 2023 that the man had had one leg amputated in order to preserve his life.

Because the infection of the ankle’s arteries was not discovered in time, the amputation became inevitable.

Facts regarding Mr Ibu to be aware of are as follows:

  1. October 17, 1961, is the birthday of John Ikechukwu Okafor.
  2. He performed and was a comedian from Nigeria.
  3. In 2004 the comedic actor gained prominence in the film “Mr Ibu,” which starred Osita Iheme, another well-known actor.
  4. Mr. Ibu, Mr. Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, International Players, Mr. Ibu in London, Police Recruit, and numerous other Nollywood productions are among the more than 200 films in which Okafor participated.
  5. The veteran made his music debut on October 15, 2020, with the releases of the singles “This Girl” and “Do You Know.”
  6. In 2012, Mr. Ibu demanded that homosexuality be eradicated from Nollywood, comparing it to a virus.
  7. He received his diploma from the Enugu State Institute of Management and Technology.
  8. On March 2, 2024, he passed away at the age of 62.
